Creating Lasting Change: The Impact of CACNC & How You Can Help the Mission

When families are in crisis and a child needs support, Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina (CACNC) makes sure they find an open door with services from highly trained professionals that are always free of charge.

Why? Because this is the door to hope and it’s made possible by the commitment of accredited children’s advocacy centers and financial support from the community – both businesses and individuals. Supporting CACNC is an opportunity to “be the hero” for a child in need.

No one expects to need a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), but when they do, there are more than 50 CAC locations across North Carolina that are ready to help. This is a number that grows every year to serve the growing population. CACNC ensures that these locations have the necessary training and resources to step up and step in when children need it most.

In 2025,

  • 18,336 Children received case management through a CAC
  • 11,844 New child abuse cases were investigated through a CAC
  • 2,432 Child abuse professionals were trained by CACNC
  • 96% of caregivers said CACs provided the resources they needed to help their child heal after abuse.
  • 97% of caregivers said they would recommend a Children’s Advocacy Center to other families facing child abuse

In 2025, support services were expanded:

  • 3 new communities developing a CAC
  • 3 new CACs were provisionally accredited, working toward full accreditation
  • 6 established CACs were re-accredited

Opening Doors at Every Level

While keeping doors open in every community is the heart of the mission, advancing prevention-based policies, community awareness, and statewide response is also a key undercurrent of CACNC’s drive to change patterns of abuse across the state. CACNC remains committed to investing in critical research and evaluation of all their programs throughout the state, tracking outcomes and sharing this important data with the decision makers that affect policy.

In 2025, CACNC:

  • Partnered with more than 30 state and local organizations focused on advocacy, legislation and education to support child safety
  • Advocated for increases in NC victim funding and upholding the NC Safe Child Act
  • Hosted 2 symposia for child abuse professionals to continue education, engage with experts and peers, and develop a deeper understanding of the issues victims are facing.
  • Provided over 150 individual training courses to ensure victims of child abuse are met with appropriate evidence-based, trauma-informed care
  • Expanded the network of child abuse specific medical providers by 17%
  • Added over 20 clinicians specially trained in mental health modalities that treat PTSD

Support the Mission

Tackling child abuse prevention is an ongoing battle, but thanks to the work of CACs, we are seeing a real impact for families – disrupting generational abuse with education and resources available in communities throughout the state.

When you support Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina, you help provide hope and healing to children impacted by abuse. Your donation empowers the organization to offer critical resources, advocacy and care to the most vulnerable.

You can be the hero this April and every day after in this quest to prevent child maltreatment. We hope you will consider picking up your cape and joining us.
