Who We Are

Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina (CACNC) is the statewide leader in the fight against child abuse. Our job is to connect local CACs and partners with the tools, resources, and support they need. Together, we provide a comprehensive response to the children and supportive caregivers impacted by abuse.

Our History

Children’s Advocacy Centers of North Carolina was incorporated in 1997 to provide leadership and support to the growing movement of CACs across North Carolina. As more communities opened CACs, the need for support from CACNC also grew. Starting with only one staff member in 2004, when we were officially recognized as a 501(c)3, we now have a robust group of 10 staff members representing different communities across the state.

Develop, train, and sustain high-quality children’s advocacy centers (CACs) and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs).

Our Services

Statewide Advocacy & Legislation

We work to increase public awareness, outreach, and education.

Legal & Clinical Services

We retain experts to continuously improve the quality of child medical evaluations and legal support.

Expertise

We provide guidance and knowledge to the general public, CAC staff, and MDT partners.

Training

We offer training throughout the year, including two symposia, to support the investigation, evaluation, treatment, and prosecution of child maltreatment.

Networking

We bring people, centers, and partners together, so no one is doing this work in isolation.

Center Development

We help centers build the infrastructure, expertise, and confidence they need so victims of child abuse across North Carolina receive consistent, high-quality care, no matter where they live.
